On 23rd September, Harald Kumpfert, chair, European Chamber Shenyang Chapter, met with Mr Yan Zhanfeng, chief of the Shenyang Business Environment Construction Bureau at the local government, together with a delegation of six senior representatives from member companies including BASF Vitamin Company, the Conrad, Generali Life Insurance, Starmall Commerce, Hubschmann-Zhan International School, Cushman& Wakefield. Vice President Massimo Bagnasco Delivers a Speech at the 3rd Western China International Expo & International Investment Conference

From 20th to 24th September, a high-level event themed ‘3rd Western China International Expo & International Investment Conference’ was held in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, by the local government. Participants included Chen Changzhi, Vice Chairman of National People’s Congress, Peng Qinghua, party secretary, and Yin Li, deputy party secretary and governor of Sichuan Province, and Li Yunze, vice governor of Sichuan Province. Representatives of various departments and bureaus, foreign chambers, associations and organisations also participated in the event.

Massimo Bagnasco, vice president (VP) of the European Chamber was invited as a distinguished guest to the event. On 20th ceremony, VP Bagnasco delivered a speech on behalf of the European Chamber and recognized the achievements made by the Sichuan Government in terms of attracting foreign investment and trade. He also emphasized that a more level playing field and a more favorable environment for foreign talent, especially skilled workers graduating from vocational schools, were critical to attract further investment. VP Bagnasco presented Chamber's latest thematic report - the Digital Hand: how China's corporate social credit system conditions market actors to officials.

The European Chamber's ICT and Cybersecurity working groups submitted collated comments to the MIIT on the Guiding Opinions on Industrial Big Data Development (Draft for Comments). The comments mainly called for the clarification of certain concepts such as some platforms including the resource platforms for national basic industrial data, and some subjects including the big data solution provider, the technology provider for industrial internet platform and the integration solution provider for intelligent manufacturing system.
