How to Use .Epub (iPad and Other Tablet Devices) or .Mobi (Kindle) Files for Ebooks

Epub Files for iPad or Android/Windows Tablets

Note that currently only selected publications are available in ePub or Mobi formats

iPad Instructions for .Epub Files

To download directly to iPad:

  1. Make sure you have the iBooks app installed on your iPad.
  2. From the Chamber website, click the .epub file icon. You should be asked to log in.
  3. Log in as either a guest or with your Chamber website username, depending on which email address you use to receive emails on your iPad. If you have a Chamber website username, yet you use a personal email account for your iPad’s email program, log in as a guest with your personal email address.
  4. Check your iPad email inbox. You should have received an email from the Chamber.
  5. Click on the link in the email. You will be directed back to the Chamber website, and the download will begin.
  6. When the download is complete, you should get an iPad message that asks you which application you would like to use to access the file. Choose the iBooks option. The ebook should open automatically in your iBooks app, and will be accessible in the future from your iBooks library.

To transfer the file from your computer to your iPad:

  1. Make sure you have iTunes installed on your computer, and the iBooks app installed on your iPad.
  2. From the Chamber website, click the .epub file icon. You should be asked to log in.
  3. Log in as either a guest or with your Chamber website username, depending on which email address you use to receive emails on your computer. If you have a Chamber website username, yet you use a personal email account for your computer’s email program, log in as a guest with your personal email address.
  4. Check your computer email inbox. You should have received an email from the Chamber.
  5. Click on the link in the email. You will be directed back to the Chamber website, and the download will begin.
  6. When the download is complete, open iTunes. Make sure the left column listing your music, books, videos, etc. is visible. Find the downloaded .epub file, and transfer the file into your iTunes media library. The .epub file will go automatically to "Books".
  7. Connect your iPad to your computer and sync.
  8. Open the iBooks app on your iPad. You should see the ebook in your iBooks library.

Android or Windows Tablets Instructions for .Epub Files

To download directly to Android or Windows tablets:

  1. Make sure you have an Ebook Reader app installed on your tablet device.
  2. From the Chamber website, click the .epub file icon. You should be asked to log in.
  3. Log in as either a guest or with your Chamber website username, depending on which email address you use to receive emails on your tablet. If you have a Chamber website username, yet you use a personal email account for your tablet’s email program, log in as a guest with your personal email address.
  4. Check your tablet’s email inbox. You should have received an email from the Chamber.
  5. Click on the link in the email. You will be directed back to the Chamber website, and the download will begin.
  6. When the download is complete, open your tablet’s ebook reader app. Each ebook reader app is different, but they will all have a function that allows you to choose/import a file from a location on your tablet. After you have imported the file to the app, you should be able to open the ebook and begin reading.

Kindle Instructions for .Mobi Files

Transfer the .mobi file directly from your computer to your Kindle device using a USB cable:

  1. From the Chamber website, click the .mobi file icon. You should be asked to log in.
  2. Log in as either a guest or with your Chamber website username, depending on which email address you use to receive emails on your computer. If you have a Chamber website username, yet you use a personal email account for your computer’s email program, log in as a guest with your personal email address.
  3. Check your computer email inbox. You should have received an email from the Chamber.
  4. Click on the link in the email. You will be directed back to the Chamber website, and the download will begin.
  5. When the download is complete, connect your Kindle to your computer with a USB cable. Using your computer’s file transfer system, move the downloaded .mobi file to the Kindle device listed in your computer’s external devices.
  6. After the file transfer is complete, the ebook will appear in your Kindle’s homepage menu.
