Siloing and Diversification Survey: Frequently Asked Questions

On 30th August, the European Chamber launched an online survey on the trends of siloing and diversification. As the survey is still open for participation, we have compiled a list of answers to the most frequently asked questions by survey participants.

Don’t miss your chance to shape the European Chamber’s messaging on this important topic.

If you still face issues completing the survey, please contact Ms Mariann Nagy at mnagy@europeanchamber.com.cn for troubleshooting.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the aim of this survey?

The survey aims to identify the key drivers behind the trends of siloing and diversification in the areas of data management, research and development, and human resources. The results will be used to compile a report on the topic.

How do I know if I am eligible to take the survey?

An invitation, including a link to the survey and unique access code, were sent from secretarygeneral@europeanchamber.com.cn to the primary contacts of all eligible member companies. In some cases, due to the different settings of the host servers, you might find the email invitation in your spam folder.

How long will the survey remain open for participation?

Until 8pm on 22nd September.

How long does it take to complete the survey?

The survey consists of four pages of questions arranged by topic. On average, it takes about 15 minutes to answer all questions.

Will my answers be traced back to my company?

No. All results of the survey are completely anonymous. No individual company information will be included in the report or distributed.

Why can’t I proceed to the next page?

Please check the following:

1)    If the “other” option is ticked for a question, a text box appears that asks you to specify your answer before you move on to the next page. Please make sure you have filled in the details in the text box.
2)    Some questions require a minimum of one selection per each row/column. Please make sure you have selected the number of options the question required.
3)    After answering the final question of the survey, the answers need to be submitted by clicking the ‘Done’ button. Please make sure you click the ‘Done’ button and only close the page after you have reached the closing message.

My company does not silo its operations in China, nor does it attempt to diversify any of its functions. Should I still take the survey?

Yes. In order to show an accurate picture of the trends of siloing and diversification, it is important for us to gauge the extent to which European companies in China follow these trends.

The survey includes questions on R&D, but my company does not do R&D in China. Should I still take the survey?

Yes. You will be able to skip through questions that don’t apply to your company by selecting the ‘Not applicable’ option. Please note, that for certain questions, this option is listed as a negative answer to the question (e.g., ‘Does your company face any challenges hiring foreign employees to work in China?’, ‘We do not face any challenges’).
