On 27th May 2024, China’s Ministry of Finance (MOF) issued the draft standards on sustainability disclosure for businesses and its explanatory document, charting path to a nationwide standardised environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) reporting system by 2030. The milestone documents outline a roadmap—China plans to issue fundamental sustainability-related and climate-related disclosure standards by 2027, and to create a sustainability reporting system in alignment of International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) by 2030. They also lay a foundation for China’s development of its green finance mechanism. Along the path, stakeholders including regulators, investors, creditors and service providers are expected to contribute better solutions on sustainable development. What are the challenges and opportunities lying ahead? How will manufacturers and service providers be affected? What role may the banking sector play to accelerate the process?
In this regard, the Environment, Carbon Market, and Banking and Securities (sub-)Working Groups are delighted to invite the Chamber members to join the cross-working group meeting on Sustainable Manufacturing Outlook in China: ESG Regulation and Green Finance, scheduled on Monday 23rd September, 15:00-16:00, at Tomra office in Beijing. During this meeting, we are honoured to invite Mr Erik Halldén, Sustainability Advisor, Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken (SEB), as the keynote speaker, and experts from the banking, consulting and manufacturing industries as panellists, to share regulatory updates and business insights on the topic.
Registration is welcome before COB Friday 20th September 2024. Due to limited seating capacity, registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.
