Dear Working Group member,

 

We are pleased to invite you to the upcoming joint Beijing & Shanghai Insurance Working Group Meeting, which will take place on Monday, 10^th April, starting at 14:00 at the European Chamber Beijing and Shanghai Offices linking via video conference.

 

At this meeting, Ms ZHOU Xing, China Insurance industry leader at PwC (attached her bio)will deliver a presentation on foreign insurance companies in China which will cover aspects as market environment, human capital, distribution, competition and new trends.

 

After the presentation, the Chairs of the Insurance Working Group will debrief the members of the meeting with CIRC International Department which will take place in the morning of Monday, 10th April. The purpose of this meeting with CIRC is to give an on overview of the outline of the Insurance Position Paper 2017/18 and gather the views and suggestions from their department as well to discuss the development of the insurance market.

 

Insurance Working Group Elections

At this meeting, we will also be holding the elections for the Chair and Vice-Chair position.  The Chairperson and Vice Chairpersons play a crucial role in driving the Working Group, which includes a leadership role in the drafting of the Position Paper, communicating key messages to Chinese and European government authorities and steering Working Group meetings. The desired characteristics of a Chair and Vice Chairs are a senior industry representative with relevant industry expertise and government contacts who has the time and willingness to support the Working Group. Previous participation in the Working Group is essential. The maximum duration of Chairperson or Vice Chairperson of a Group is three consecutive years. Candidates are only eligible for Chair or Vice Chair positions if he/she is physically based in China. Only Corporate members are eligible for Chair and Vice Chair positions.

The Working Group is going to elect one national Chairperson and three Vice-Chairpersons, i.e.:

- One Working Group Chair based in Beijing or Shanghai to serve as the National Chair;

- One Vice Chair based in Beijing or Shanghai to serve as Vice Chair and Local Chair (a local Chair can only be based in the city where there is no national Chair);

- Two Vice-Chairs based in one in Beijing and one in Shanghai.

Should you be interested in putting your name forward for election, please, firstly, read the attached “Working Group Chairs’ Code of Conduct” and “Roles and Responsibilities”. To apply, please send a short biography and motivation letter, stating whether you intend to run for Chairperson or Vice Chairperson, to xsanspowell@europeanchamber.com.cn at the latest byMonday, 3^rd April, 2017 COB.
