Lane Aldred is a veteran security and risk management consultant specializing in providing security consultancy, advice and training to companies and government agencies throughout Asia, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.

Lane provides travel risk information and undertakes evacuation planning, specialist security consultancy and crisis management roles in organizations as diverse as extractives and mining, security consultancy, aviation, maritime, construction and manufacturing as well as government bodies and scholastic institutions.

Before joining International SOS and Control Risks, he spent over 14 years exclusively with Control Risks, including 6 years with its China business, based first in Beijing then in Shanghai. In this capacity, Lane worked extensively with Asia based MNCs, Chinese state owned enterprises and international companies looking to enter the Asia marketplace. This included outbound business developments into Iraq and Africa comprising all related coordination, delivery and training to ensuring safety and security in difficult operating environments.

Prior to his work in security and risk consulting, Lane served as a non-commissioned officer in the British Army, where he led airborne soldiers on live operations and exercises in the UK and overseas. Lane has seen active service with the British Army’s Parachute Regiment during the Falklands War, Northern Ireland and on numerous other operations.

Lane earned his degree in Security and Risk Management from the University of Leicester in the United Kingdom. He most recently studied Bio-Terrorism Emergency Preparedness with Louisiana State University, UN Voluntary Principles and Human Rights Awareness, and earned certificates in Interfaith Conflict Resolution and Conflict Analysis at the United States Institute of Peace.

Lane speaks English, and conversational Mandarin and French.
