Joint Working Group Meeting with SAC on Revised Standardisation Law (Chinese Session)

The long-awaited, revised Standardisation Law was promulgated by the National People’s Congress on 4 November, 2017, bringing significant changes to the previous standardisation system. This is a fundamental piece of legislation that will impact a wide range of sectors. Throughout the drafting process, the European Chamber actively participated in relevant consultations and provided revision suggestions.

Next Joint Carbon Market Working Group Meeting

Dear Working Group member,

With China set to launch its national emissions trading system (ETS) by the end of the year, most probably in the context of the 23rd Session of the Conference of the Parties (COP23) to the UN Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in Bonn (from 6th to 17th November), and the State Council set to approve the ETS implementing plan, many questions still remain unanswered. Up to these days, China has been struggling to get data for all industrial sectors and to determine the allocation of allowances.

China's Sports Sector, worth 1.5 trillion yuan in 2016, is expected to double in value by 2020 and could be worth up to 5 trillion yuan by 2025 with an annual GVA of 1.7 trillion yuan or roughly 1.2%-1.5% of national GDP by 2025. Growing public interest in athletic events coupled with the Government's efforts with the Healthy China 2030 plan to promote a healthy life style, which is essential to economic and social development.
