China's Sports Sector, worth 1.5 trillion yuan in 2016, is expected to double in value by 2020 and could be worth up to 5 trillion yuan by 2025 with an annual GVA of 1.7 trillion yuan or roughly 1.2%-1.5% of national GDP by 2025. Growing public interest in athletic events coupled with the Government's efforts with the Healthy China 2030 plan to promote a healthy life style, which is essential to economic and social development.
President Xi Jinping wants to see the construction of 70,000 new soccer pitches by 2020 and more cooperation with international clubs and associations. The Sports Sector has seen a boom in China due in large part to a large amount of culture activities and is now also part of the political agenda.
The European Chamber is delighted to welcome a line up of speakers who will speak about the growing Chinese sports market.

Ms. Brigitte Wolff
In 2015 I joined international Interim and Transition Management Agency E.I.M. Excellence in Management in their Shanghai office, being responsible for the China, ASEAN and Indian business. Under the set-up of Eight Dragons Limited - PE the investment and my advisory board mandates are executed. Before E.I.M. I joined World- renowned management consulting firm Booz & Company through its merger with ME, which later changed the name to PwC Strategy& With almost 18 years of China business experience as a consultant with focus on technology driven industries such as machinery, automotive and chemistry ( e. g. Chemistry in automotive) and a true networker and door opener I now contribute to the success of E.I.M. in Asia. Before I worked for Management Engineers Consulting Company (ME) as MD and Legal Representative, as well as regional partner in operations and strategic consulting, after my company Abacus Corporation merged with ME in 2007. Since 2008 I also have served as a board member of the German Chamber in Shanghai.
I hold a Master of Engineering degree ( Diploma Engineer) from No 1 German University: TU Munich
Mr. Bryan Bachner
Bryan Bachner, Investment Director, New Economy Fund, China Everbright & Co-Chair, Sports Committee, American Chamber of Commerce China. Bryan played professional basketball in HK for ten years AND served on the Board of a 3rd Division professional football club of the CFA.
Mr. Victor Cui
As CEO, International, of ONE Championship (ONE), it is no surprise that Victor Cui is regularly featured in global publications as one of the most influential figures in the world of martial arts. You only have to see his professional background to understand why his career trajectory has created a brand new paradigm for sports and martial arts in Asia.
Prior to launching ONE Championship, Cui spent six years with the Event Management Group for Asia’s number one sports broadcaster – ESPN Star Sports (ESS). There, he successfully headed event business development across Asia, and project-led some of the biggest sporting properties and television event partnerships in the region.
Before he joined ESS, he was the Director of Communications for the PGA Tour – Golf Canada, and also served as the Managing Editor for Canada’s number one golf publication during that same period.
These roles allowed him to accumulate decades of world-class experience in the areas of international sports and marketing communications. Throughout his career, Cui has played an invaluable part in the likes of the Commonwealth Games, the World Championships, the Sydney Olympics, the PGA Tour Bell Canadian Open Championship, the LPGA Tour BMO Women’s Open, the X Games Asia, the World Series of Pool, and World Futsal. He also personally created and led a series of 12 Martial Combat events.
Mr. Richard Young
Richard Young is Managing Director at National Football League, China. Previously, Richard Managing Director, Sports at XSEL - Xinhua Sports & Entertainment Ltd. and Founder of The Young Company. He also became Vice President, Program Development and Event Management Group of ESPN STAR Sports. He also became Director of Operations and Client Services of Sports International, Entertainment Plus Ltd.
Richard studied Bachelor of Arts, Honors, Intl Relations and East Asian Studies at Boston University and took his Masters of MBA at The University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
Mr. Rob Mills
Rob Mills is the Global CEO & Director at Gemba Group, a high end sports and entertainment consultancy with offices in Shanghai, Dublin, Sydney, Auckland and Melbourne. They work with clients who operate in or leverage the sports, music, movies and arts sectors.
Rob has worked in sports and media roles in Asia Pacific, Europe and America for over 20 years. By virtue of his previous experience and his current role at Gemba, he has worked across the key components of sport and entertainment - consumers, sponsors, venues, rights holders.

Mr. Rouven Kasper
Rouven Kasper is the Managing Director of the FC Bayern Shanghai office.
Rouven Kasper, born in Mühlacker (Baden-Württemberg), studied sports economics at the University of Bayreuth and has subsequently amassed great experience in sports marketing in a variety of positions over the last ten years. Prior to joining FC Bayern Kasper was a Senior Director at Lagardére Sports Germany (formerly Sportfive), where he took charge of Team FC Augsburg and headed the Hamburger SV unit.
FC Bayern has been active in China since September 2016. The main objectives are the ongoing expansion of the FC Bayern brand in China and the world and to intensify contacts with Bayern fans. Furthermore, as in the USA, existing sponsorship and media partnerships will be deepened. Other important projects include arranging partnerships in youth football and additional marketing activities such as the “Legend Trophy Tour” and the “Audi Summer Tour”.
