You are cordially invited to the “Rule of Law: Multi-Stakeholder Participation in Environment and Health – Vehicle Emission Control Policy Symposium” to be held in Beijing on December 4, 2014. The event will be held to discuss how to help China achieve its environment and health policy objectives through multi-stakeholder participation and technologies such as lowest-emission vehicles.
In April 2014, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released its announcement to implement the Twelfth Five-Year Energy Conservation Plan and the Atmospheric Pollution Prevention Action Plan, the Ministry will promote atmospheric pollution prevention, reduce vehicle emissions, and put a halt before the end of this year to the sales of diesel vehicles which only comply with Phase III Emission Standards. This means from January 1, 2015, heavy-duty/commercial vehicles will need to comply with Phase IV Emission Standards. As is well known, emissions by heavy-duty vehicles such as trucks and buses are mainly composed of particulate matter (PM) and NOx which are major contributors of urban air pollution. Thus emissions control of heavy-duty vehicles is very critical.
To support China's emission reduction plans, three committed organization s- the Institute of Health and Environment Communication of the Communication University of China, Clean Air Asia and Faurecia have joined together to launch this symposium to promote the implementation of the new policies, to compare domestic and foreign policies, and to provide relevant government agencies with practical policy advice.
We sincerely hope that you can grace us with your presence to better introduce the ideas behind this policy to industry insiders who care about atmospheric pollution prevention and public health, to put forward your hopes for the industry sector and to give directional guidance for promoting the implementation of the new emission standards. We are confident that your participation will certainly play a positive role in promoting the implementation of the new standards within the industry. We will also take this opportunity to promote the continued publication and implementation of relevant laws and regulations in industry sectors, the environmental community and to the media.
