The European Chamber is delighted to invite you to join Auto Components Working Group Meeting: Legal Issues with Intelligent Connected Vehicles in China at 14.00-16.00 am, 22^nd June 2018 at the European Chamber Shanghai Office.

With intelligent connected vehicles (ICVs) being repeatedly referred to in policy documents released over the course of 2017/2018, the future of mobility is upon us. The convergence of the automotive and ICT industries will bring about significant disruption to previous business models and bring major challenges in complying with an evolving regulatory framework. In addition to foreign investment restrictions relating to the vehicles and various in-vehicle technology, new rules are also emerging to regulate liability, privacy, security as well as the testing of ICVs.

To help you better navigate the legal challenges associated with ICVs, the European Chamber is delighted to welcome Mark Schaub, International Partner at King & Wood Mallesons, to provide a comprehensive overview of the government issued guidelines. The presentation will be followed by a discussion with auto components industry players on the vehicle of tomorrow and the future of mobility.

Mark Schaub specializes in foreign direct investment, M&A and restructuring in China. He has advised on foreign investment projects in all major sectors in China with a cumulative value exceeding USD 20 billion. He is familiar with China issues faced by companies of all sizes and is a trusted advisor to many companies ranging from family owned businesses to Fortune 500 companies. He is also the global co-head of our consumer practice.

Mark Schaub has worked as a lawyer in Shanghai since 1993. He was the first foreign partner to join our China firm in 2000. Prior to this, he worked in well-known German and American law firms in their Shanghai offices. He has been consistently recognized as one of the “Leading Lawyers” by Legal 500 and a number of authoritative legal ranking media for corporate practice.

In addition to his work as legal counsel Mr. Schaub has been appointed as a director to joint ventures and WFOEs in various sectors and has also been liquidation chairman of several large Sino-foreign joint ventures.
