China’s AML−Exclusive dialogue with an NDRC official

The recent Anti-Monopoly Law (AML) investigations by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) into certain industries has led to an increased desire amongst many Chamber members to have a more thorough grasp of the AML in order to stay compliant.

The European Chamber strongly supports the development of an anti-monopoly legal framework in China, in fact many Chamber members have contributed to the AML in various ways over the past few years. In our Position Paper we state the importance of effective implementation of the AML, and that we believe it is beneficial to the development of a fair, competitive and transparent market economy in China.

On 4th November, Ms Zhi Shengmin, Director, Competition Policy & International Cooperation Division, NDRC gave a presentation to Chamber members explaining the process for implementing China’s AML including investigation, prioritisation and cases where leniency is introduced. Following the presentation Ms Zhi answered member’s questions. There will be a full write-up of this exclusive event in the next issue of EURObiz.
