Professor Cronqvist's research is in "Behavioral Finance," which intersects the fields of finance and psychology. His talk will be about "Nature, Nurture, and Financial Decision Making." This research project was motivated by the long-standing debate of whether "nature" (our genes) or "nurture" (the environment) explain human behavior. Over the past several years, Professor Cronqvist has led a research team which has examined this question in the context of finance. What explains our financial decisions, for example how much risk we take when we invest our money? Is it in our genes? Is it determined by what our parents taught us? Or does it depend on other factors?
