On 16th September, a European Chamber delegation, led by President Davide Cucino, held an introductory meeting with the European Commission. Members of the delegation answered questions from the Commission and raised issues specific to the Chamber’s working groups.
The Chamber delegation met with Mr. Michel Praet, Member Cabinet President, European Council and presented the Position Paper 2013/2014. They discussed challenges regarding market access in China and EU-China strategy.
Tha Chamber delegation had a lunch meeting with H.E. WU Hailong, P.R. China Ambassador to the European Union.
A Chamber delegation led by President Davide Cucino presented Position Paper 2013/2014 to Commissioner Dacian Ciolos, DG AGRI. During the meeting, the delegation shared concerns on agriculture, food and beverage issues.
A Chamber delegation met with Commissioner Connie Hedegaard, DG CLIMA to present the Position Paper and discuss issues related to automotive, aerospace, carbon market and environment.
A Chamber delegation met with Mr. Philippe Legrain, Principal Adviser, Head of the Analysis Team at the Bureau of European Policy Advisers (BEPA), European Commission.
At the working-level, the delegation held a meeting with Lionel Mesnildrey (Deputy Head of Unit) and Lucia Causey-Hugecova (China desk Officer), DG AGRI. The meeting covered the Position Paper overview and issues specifically related to agriculture, food and beverage.
The Chamber delegation lead by Vice President Jens Ruebbert, met with Director Peter Bekx, International Economic and Financial Relations and Global Governance, DG Economic and Financial Affairs. The European Chamber was informed that the EU-China macroeconomic dialogue will take place in early November and the European Commission will be meeting with the NDRC and the Ministry of Finance. The discussion also touched other topics such as the implementation and enforcement of laws and regulations, China's 'go west' policy, their macroeconomic environment and internationalisation of RMB.
