Chairman of Tianjin speaks at 11th International Roundtable of Multinational Corporations’ Leaders

On 2nd November, Mr. Cheung Yup Fan, Chairman of the European Chamber Tianjin Chapter, attended the 11th International Roundtable of Multinational Corporations’ Leaders which took place in Tianjin. The main purpose of the meeting was to accelerate reform in the city and explore opportunities and challenges for international companies operating in the local business environment.

Mr. Cheung participated in the Closed-door Meeting for Chairmen, Presidents and CEOs of Multinational Corporations’ China Operations to represent the concerns that European businesses face in China more generally and Tianjin specifically. He focused on Foreign visa submission, implementation of Environmental Protection Law, finance reform and cybersecurity issues at the central level before summarising some of the local findings of recent European Chamber reports on the local business environment in Tianjin.

Ms. Ma Xiuhong, Former Vice Minister of MOFCOM chaired the meeting and Mr. Zheng Weiming, Party Secretary of Tianjin Economic Development Area (TEDA) also joined the discussion.

On the same day, Mr. Mats Harborn, President of the European Chamber joined Mr. Christoph Schrempp, Vice Chair of the Environment Working Group of the European Chamber, at the China-Europe Business Leaders Cooperation Forum.
