Mats Harborn, President of the Chamber had a meeting with Vice President Liu Jinghua of China Economic Cooperation Center (CECC) .

President Harborn thanked Vice President Liu again for inviting the Chamber to attend the CPC in Dialogue with World Political Parties High-Level Meeting last December and provided him with very positive feedbacks despite the doubts and suspicions from western countries about the event at the beginning. He then introduced the Chamber to Vice President Liu, who then briefed the Chamber delegation the major tasks of the CECC and invited the Chamber to attend a business dialogue within the framework of the Belt & Road Initiative in this April. In the discussion about China’s economic development and reform, President Harborn raised the confusion from the outside about the CPC’s role in China’s reform and opening up. He has also shared some development of Party’s increasing involvement in the corporate governance in the joint ventures. Vice President Liu responded that in the businesses registered in China, it is stipulated by the law that the Party organization can carry out activities and the Party organizations are playing a conducive role in the development of businesses. They also play an important role in safeguarding the rights and interests of the employees. He suggested the Chamber and member companies have more in-depth understanding of the Party and enhance communications with the Chamber and the members, which has also been highlighted by President Harborn many times in the conversation. In conclusion, President Harborn presented the Position Paper 2017/2018 to Vice President Liu of the CECC.
