Meeting with EUIPO on EU-China IP Priority Areas and IP Key China Project

On September 20, 2017, representatives of the European Chamber’s Intellectual Property Rights Working Group and the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) met at the European Union Delegation Beijing Office to discuss the start and the objectives of the next phase of IP Key China project, as well as possible avenues of support from the Working Group and the Chamber’s recently launched 2017/2018 Position Paper.

During the meeting, EUIPO confirmed the renewal of IP Key for four more years starting from September 1, 2017, as well as Mr Benoît Misonne to continue as leader of the programme. The Project team with recruit two IP specialists in the areas of trademarks and patents. Furthermore, EUIPO representatives expressed their wish to collaborate with the European Chamber in its lobby efforts to the competent authorities. Following a discussion on the most recent IPR Working Group Position Paper, both sides identified judicial cooperation as a priority among the Chamber’s Key Recommendations on IP issues.
