Meeting with Shanghai Enterprise Confederation

On 12th September, 2017, Mr Carlo D’Andrea, Vice president of the European Chamber and Chairman of Shanghai Board, and Mr Herve Roesch, Chair of the Investment Working Group met with Mr Zhenmin Li, Deputy Secretary General of the Shanghai Enterprise Confederation, and exchanged views on possible ways of cooperation, such as organising joint-events and information sessions.

Mr. Zhenmin Li, on behalf of Shanghai Enterprise Confederation offered his welcome to the European Chamber representatives, followed with an introduction of the Shanghai Enterprise Confederation, whose main purpose is to protect companies’ legitimate interest, and to assist them with problem-solving. At present, a number of government initiatives such as ‘One Belt One Road’ and ‘Made in China 2025’ provide plentiful opportunities for China-Europe cooperation. The Shanghai Enterprise Confederation would like to join hands with the European Chamber to create a platform that could help companies better understand the cooperation opportunities in this regards.

Mr Carlo D’Andrea and Mr Herve Roesch, presented an outline of the Chamber’s work and the Investment Working Group, as well as key findings of the 2017 Business Confidence Survey. The European Business sees there is still room for further improvement with regard to the reciprocity, intellectual property rights protection and market barriers of certain sectors. The Chamber will continue to work together with all kinds of stakeholders for a better investment environment in China. Mr Carlo D’Andrea also declared Chamber’s strong interest in organizing joint-events with the Shanghai Enterprise Confederation to exchange views and share experiences between the members of the two organisations.
