Meeting with Beijing Municipal Commission of Commerce

Foreign Investment Development Department of Beijing Municipal Commission of Commerce organized a meeting on 17th August on the evaluation system of business environment in the districts in Beijing, where several members and the Chamber provided recommendations.

Director Meng Jie of Foreign Investment Development Department firstly said that this is a follow-up of the 16th Conference of the Central Leading Group on Financial and Economic Affairs on 17 July. She indicated that both the central and Beijing municipal governments are working very hard to further improve the business environment, especially for the FIEs.

Director Zheng Donghua from Beijing Municipal Statistics Bureau gave an introduction of the evaluation system. Representatives from FIEs, associations and foreign Chambers provided recommendations on the evaluation system and the business environment in Beijing, such as taking into consideration the FIEs’ daily engagement with various departments when designing the system. Besides the recommendations on facilitating registration and tax issues, focusing more on the private sector, supporting SMEs, increasing incentives for foreign companies to undertake research and development activities in Beijing and improving livability. Ms Yefang Wang, Government Affairs Manager of the Beijing Chapter of the European Chamber, also suggested working out an evaluation system based on different development and priorities of different districts in Beijing, so that the evaluation can be comprehensive and fair. Director Meng thanked all participants and said that they will review that recommendations and further work on the evaluation system.
