Meeting with Department of Foreign Capital and Overseas Investment, NDRC

Sara Marchetta, Vice President of the Chamber led a delegation and met with Deputy Director General Liu Hongkuan of Department of Foreign Capital and Overseas Investment, NDRC together with representatives from the AmCham. Sara Marchetta thanked DDG Liu and appreciated the effort made by the Chinese government to further open up. She also said that the Chamber will continue following up on the implementation of Circular No. 5. The members of both the Chambers welcomed the dialogue with the NDRC and other government authorities, especially in a small-scale meeting where people can talk freely. While recognizing the effort made by the NDRC to listen to the FIEs, they still voiced some concerns and recommendations in different industries. 

DDG Liu made some general comments about certain issues and explained the difficulties China is now facing in further opening up. He said that all the concerns and suggestions from the FIEs were well received and the NDRC would have internal discussions and coordinate with relevant ministries. Some of the issues could not be solved overnight, but they will be dealt with gradually. At last, he expressed his appreciation to the industry representatives for the discussion and precious recommendations, and was looking forward to more exchanges in the future.
