Trademark protection – working level meeting with the Guangdong Province Administration for Industry and Commerce (GD AIC)

The European Chamber in recently published South China Position Paper 2015/2016 recommends that IPR laws shall be enforced effectively in order to have better business environment in South China. This is important in order to improve the region reputation as a destination for investment. On October 30th, Guangdong Province Administration for Industry and Commerce during meeting with Members of European Chamber introduced the foundation of the administrative trademark laws enforcement after the new Trademark Law’s promulgation and anti-counterfeit actions conducted by the GD AIC. Mr. Zhiming Chen, Deputy Director-General and Mr. Fang Lin, Director, Trademark Control Division engaged in Q&A session with participating companies regarding trademark protection in South China.

The meeting concluded with the handovers of European Business in China Position Paper 2015/2016 and South China Position Paper 2015/2016 by Ms. Alice Li, Chair, Intellectual Property Rights Working Group, South China Chapter, European Chamber to Mr. Zhiming Chen, Deputy Director-General, Guangdong Province Administration for Industry and Commerce. The European Chamber, South China Chapter regularly meets with GD AIC trademark department.
