European Chamber Shanghai Meeting with Shanghai International Arbitration Center (SHIAC)

On September 21st, European Chamber Shanghai Legal and Competition Chairs had a meeting with officials from Shanghai International Arbitration Center (SHIAC). Mr. Carlo D'Andrea, Vice-chair of European Chamber Shanghai and Chair of Legal and Competition WG, presented the 2015/2016 Position Paper to Mr. Huang Wen and Ms. Wang Weijun, Vice Secretary-generals of SHIAC. Mr. Carlo D'Adrea briefly introduced the Chamber and proposed the key recommendations for the legal issues, including more access to Chinese market for foreign legal professionals, higher transparency of Anti-monopoly Law and better environment for rule of law. Mr. Huang introduced the recent development for SHIAC and the overall market of arbitration in China. He welcomed more engagement of foreign expersts in legal and other related fields in arbitration works. Both parties identified the fields in which further cooperation can be expected, such as coorganization of events, dialogue with local scholars and more involvement of arbitration by European professionals.
