The European Union Chamber of Commerce in China Shenyang Chapter is delighted to invite you to the launch of the European Business in China – Business Confidence Survey 2017, on 29th June at Sofitel Shenyang Lido.

The Business Confidence Survey 2017 brings together the input of over 500 senior representatives of the European Chamber’s member companies to provide an annual overview of their performance and outlook from within the Chinese market. Some of the key findings of the report include the following:
今年的《中国欧盟商会---商业信心调查2017》汇集了超过500位在华欧洲企业高层代表对于其过去一年在中国的运营情况回顾以及对于中国市场的展望,重点包括:
1.Revenues and earnings before interest and taxes improved, without any marked increase in optimism about the long-term business outlook.

2.The top regulatory barriers faced by European business remain the same, and there is a lack of confidence that this situation will improve over the next five years.

Mr. Harald Kumpfert
Mr. Harald Kumpfert
Harald Kumpfert serves as Co-Founder and General Manager ECO-WIT New Energy Co. Ltd. and Chairman of the Board, EU Chamber of Commerce in China, Shenyang Chapter.
Harald Kumpfert has been working for 20 years in China in the field of energy efficiency.
From 1996 to 2009 Harald used to work for Honeywell and Siemens in China to lead the controls business for heating and cooling systems. Many city heating systems were modernized using control systems to reduce energy consumption and to improve the operational safety.
Innovative system designs and control methods were introduced to the Chinese market.
In 2010, Harald Kumpfert joined SmartHeat and established the Heat Pump business through acquisitions in China and Germany.
In 2016, Harald Kumpfert founded and Established ECO-WIT New Energy Co. Ltd and Established Strategic Partnerships with Kuebler GmbH, to become the Representative for China. And established partnerships in China for joint market development.
Harald also introduced new technologies, designs and operational methods to the industry, helping companies to reduce their energy bills while contributing to the improvement of air quality.
In appreciation for his contribution to the development of the City of Shenyang and the Liaoning Province Harald was awarded the Rose Prize of Shenyang in 2013 and the Friendship Award of Liaoning in 2014.
In 2015 Harald Kumpfert joined the Board of the EU Chamber of Commerce in China and took over the position of Chairman of the Shenyang Chapter to support European Companies in developing their business in North East and to foster the ties with the society.
Mr. Sarah L Miller
Mr. Sarah L Miller
Mrs Miller is currently the General Manager/Plant Manager of Michelin Shenyang Tire Company, Limited in Shenyang, China. She joined Michelin since 1987 and worked in US, France, Romania and China in various positions of increasing responsibility in manufacturing and corporate headquarters.
She has served on the board of directors for the Lexington, SC Chamber of Commerce, the YWCA of Columbia, SC, and is currently serving on the Board of the European Union Chamber of Commerce in Shenyang, China.
Throughout her career, she has received the Outstanding Woman of Achievement Award from the City of Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA; the Economic Ambassador Award from the state of South Carolina, USA, the Leadership award from Michelin North America.
She is married to her husband, Rodney and they have lived in Shenyang, China since 2010.
Mr. Yong Xiao
Mr. Yong Xiao
Xiao Yong is the Director of Investment Promotion Bureau, China-German Equipment & Manufacturing Industrial Park. This is the national level Industrial Park, a new Chinese cooperation platform open to German and Europe.
He has been engaged in 15 years on the investment promotion, involved in several important project of BMW, ZF, Bekaert, etc. Having great experiences on the project of negotiation, could provide a decision-making reference for the investor’s participation in the development and construction of the park.

Coming from Bavaria in Germany, Mr.Maximilian Hauk always kept his strong interest and passion for technology and engineering. Therefore his way to BMW as one of the most inspiring car manufacturers was more than obvious.He has worked for BMW for over 17 years and was responsible for different management positions in engineering, projects and manufacturing in Germany, England and right now in China. Since 2011, he was responsible for building the New Engine Plant in Tiexi and in 2014, he joined BMW Brilliance Automotive as Vice President Technical Planning.
Mr. Najeeb Haider
Mr. Najeeb Haider
Haider leads the Investment Operations Region 2 Banking team responsible for Pakistan, Afghanistan, Europe, Africa, Latin America and Central, East and West Asia. The banking team covers i) Capital Markets & Structured Products, ii) Digital Infrastructure & Industry, iii) Financial Institutions & Syndications, and iv) Private Equity. After joining AIIB in September 2016 in the Policy & Strategy team, he transferred to Investment Operations in January 2018. One of his primary responsibilities in Policy & Strategy was developing and implementing AIIB’s strategy for Private Capital Mobilization, one of the Bank’s three thematic priorities.
Before joining AIIB, Haider was Managing Director & Asia Pacific Head for project and infrastructure finance at Citicorp International Limited and was based in Hong Kong. His team was responsible for supporting clients with bespoke financing solutions and for leading a number of award-wining infrastructure financing transactions across the region. Prior to the 21 years at Citicorp International Limited, Haider spent 6 years in corporate banking roles with JP Morgan Chase and Bank of America. Haider holds BBA and MBA degrees from the Institute of Business Administration, University of Karachi.

Adam Dunnett is responsible for the overall implementation the European Chamber's objectives, visibility, membership and lobbying activities across its 7 chapters and 9 offices in China (Beijing, Chengdu, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Nanjing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Shenyang and Tianjin).
