Why do companies invest in China? How companies decide where to expand their production in China?
According to the 2015 World Investment Report by UNICTAD, China is one of the world's largest FDI recipient and is at the top of the 2015-2017 list of most attractive economies to Multinational Companies. The absorption of FDI is part of the policy of opening China to the outside. With a strong potential and a wealth of employees, China is a base for production for foreign companies. China encourages foreign investment primarly in high technology, clean-energy and export-oriented sectors.
