The large-scale power crunch that ensued has raised the alarm to both government authorities and businesses. For a market that has largely maintained power supply security during two decades of robust growth, it is astonishing to observe the scale of this current power shortage.

Advanced manufacturing as an industry grew rapidly during China’s 13th Five-Year Plan (2016 - 2020), with the added value of high-tech manufacturing and equipment manufacturing accounting for 15.1% and 33.7% of the added value of industrial output. As the pandemic has disrupted the industrial framework in most western countries, China recovering quicker has a unique advantage in the industry. China should see innovation and technological development as drivers of productivity growth.

Taking the above into consideration, the 14th Five-Year Plan puts greater emphasis on advanced manufacturing. The Plan calls for cultivating advanced manufacturing industry clusters to promote innovation and foster the development of a range of technology industries, including integrated circuits. Successful value creation processes require an immediate identification of problems, short reaction times and the continuous implementation of solutions. This philosophy is to be deeply embedded into day-to-day operations and can be achieved by establishing an additional function within your organisation. The so-called Hancho, who acts between employees and the supervisor, is responsible for permanently monitoring processes and thus for constantly driving the CIP on the Shop Floor. A profound development of the Hancho’s hard and soft skills is the prerequisite for him to become an expert in problem-solving and an excellent leader.
