The European Chamber is delighted to welcome Lauri Myllyvirta from Greenpeace, Xie Yanmei from Gavekal Dragonomics and Ether Yin from Trivium/China to explain what has driven this reduction in pollution and assess to what extent lasting systemic changes have taken place. Are local officials likely to return to their old habits or will a stepped-up central inspection campaign lead to continued enforcement (overzealous or otherwise) of this winter's anti-pollution measures?

Chair/Vice Chair Elections, Presentation on Current Development of Foreign-funded Insurance Institutions in China and discussion on Insurance Position Paper 2018/19

In 2016, Chinese investments into the EU leaped 77% y-o-y to more than 35 billion EUR. As China continues to grow, develop, and integrate into the global economy, its overseas investments expand in quantity and quality, reflecting growing sophistication of the Chinese economy and broader Chinese commercial and policy goals. Brand new realities for the EU-China trade relations are therefore being shaped up. 

How is this new scenario is going to impact our economies? What are the motives and tools used for Chinese investments in Europe? These and other questions will be discussed at the next WG meeting on 22 March, h 9:30 with Mr Bo Cheng, Partner at Zhong Lun. Bo will provide a seminar about “Chinese outbound direct investment (ODI) from a regulatory point of view”.
