On November 8th 2016, France adopted a new anti-corruption law “Sapin 2”. This new legislation gives French authorities an increased remit to prosecute French companies for corrupt practices overseas. The Joint Declaration on the EU-China Partnership on Urbanisation signed by leaders of the European Union and P.R China in 2012 opened a new chapter of EU-China urbanisation cooperation. The past five years have witnessed wider, deeper and more concrete cooperation between the two sides. As 2017 marks the fifth anniversary of the EU-China Partnership on Urbanisation, the 2017 EU-China Forum on Sustainable Urban Development & Inception Meeting of 100 Pairing Cities/Programs are to take place in Putian City, Fujian Province, China on 19-21 March, 2017, organised by China Center for Urban Development (CCUD) under the guidance of China National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), together with EUCCC, EUROCITIES and JPI Urban Europe.

Even if we don’t take into account companies who may be actively cutting headcount, employee turnover and occasional employee disputes are an unavoidable reality. Companies need to protect themselves and ensure they are ready to deal with the difficulties of terminating an employee, especially one who they feel may be engaging in practices that are corrupt or potentially damaging to the company’s reputation.

According to the PRC Disabled Persons Security Law, which became effective on 1st July, 2008, enterprises are obliged to hire disabled persons as a specified ratio of their total staff.
In order to strengthen implementation of the PRC Disabled Persons Security Law, on 9th September, 2015, the Ministry of Finance, the State Tax Bureau and the China Disabled Persons Federation jointly issued the Methods on Levying, Use and Management of Disabled Persons’ Employment Security Fund (Methods‌). The Methods stipulate that all enterprises in China must make contributions to the Fund if they do not hire a sufficient number of disabled persons.
