At 2014 Beijing APEC President Xi pointed out that a new norm of China's economy has emerged. Growth gear has shifted from high to a medium-to-high speed, economic structure is constantly being improved and upgraded, and the economy is increasingly driven by innovation instead of input and investment. With the gear shift, we have seen a new norm in Talent Acquisition & Cultivation. Chinese companies are going global under the Belt & Road Strategy. Chinese talents who have overseas experience and exposure are on high demand. For European business operating in China, we have also seen many changes, such as Shanghai now has emerged in the top three of cities with global R&D centers, with radiation effect to rest of Asia. A more diversified team of talents are expected to support regional business initiatives. Talents are also expected to drive further local application and adaptation. For manufacturing, more European companies are setting up their network further in the North and West. The post 90s generation seeks personal influence & linking via social media, and talents with frontier management, market penetration and strategic insight are being chased while experienced professionals who are only good at following routines and taking instructions are being asked to leave.
More than ever, HRBPs and Hiring Managers are being challenged in their Talent Acquisition & Cultivation approaches and methodology. HR Shared Service Centers are being asked to be proactive and professional in service responsiveness, HR Mobility is asked to come up with more localized mobility solutions to support re-location of talents to cities abroad and (2nd/3rd tier cities ) in China. HR vendors are being asked to switch from dispatching to outsourcing (with a two year migration time to reduce current dispatching employees to 10% of total headcount) under new regulations. Such expectation calls for New Norm in Talent Acquisition & Cultivation in the era of Innovation. We are here today to brainstorm and search ideas for our new way of working in HR.
