The European Union Chamber of Commerce in China is pleased to invite you to our seminar on Cyber Security – Protect your Operational and Commercial Assets. We have the pleasure of inviting two speakers who will cover the following topics:
"Cyber Security: what is it and how may affect your business" by Josepmaria ROCA – ‘ethical hacker’ and cyber security senior specialist at Applus (Shanghai) Quality Inspection Co., Ltd.
Nowadays, no companies are immune from malicious hackers, hacktivists and cybercrime or cyber warfare. Although information security is often enclosed to the IT department; it’s an important issue that concerns the entire company.
Last year, companies lost untold sums of money because of cyber attacks. Reliable agencies estimate damages of around €750 billion for European companies and €320 billion for USA companies. Meanwhile, in China the situation is not better. The threats are the same and evolving as quickly as they are overseas, but the locally available resources to improve the security of IT infrastructure are very limited. Many companies could have prevented the attacks performing risk assessment, penetration tests and maintaining deeper security control of their networks. Information security is no longer an issue solely applicable to defined sectors or defined size of the economy. An explaination will be given how to prevent and monitor the risks, identify and protect your assets, assure your business continuity and its prosperity.
"Cyber Security of Industrial Control Systems and Communication Networks" by Beat Kreuter, Global Director Innovation DEKRA
Latest since the emergence of the Stuxnet in 2010 which was designed to attack a specific industrial control system, cyber security is high on the agenda of operators of industrial facilities and utilities around the world. Cyber-attacks on industrial facilities do not necessarily aim at obtaining confidential information but rather more on interrupting the operations up to changing process parameters, this may cause damage to the systems, financial losses or even more potentially endangering lives. For years industrial controls have not been designed with security in mind since industrial communication networks where largely closed systems. Increasingly industrial network are connected to networks with internet access to facilitate remote controlling and real time monitoring and controlling (e.g. smart grid) this trend is to increase with the onset of Internet of Things and the emergence of Cyber Physical Systems in process and factory automation (smart factories). The presentation will provide an overview of the standardization, global testing and certification efforts directed towards operators, integrators and manufacturers of industrial control systems, networks and components thereof to ensure measures are in place to increase protection against cyber risks and look at International Standards addressing technical and testing requirements for industrial controls devices such as PLC’s but also how to effectively design secured industrial control and communication networks.
