The European Chamber Southwest Chapter is delighted to invite members and friends to attend the 2014 Europe Day Party which is to be held on Thursday May 22th at the Crowne Plaza Chongqing New North Zone.
This much anticipated event is a celebration of the 64th anniversary of the 1950 Schuman Declaration which laid the foundations of the European Union.
After 2.5 years' service in the Chamber, Ms. Min L. Colinot, General Manager of the Southwest Chapter, will bid you farewell at the party. She would like to take this opportunity to thank you in person for your continued support to the Chamber.
The Europe day is one of the annual highlights events of the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China and aims to provide a platform for the European and Local Business community at large to expand and consolidate their networks at a European Level.

Background:
On the 9th of May 1950, Robert Schuman presented his proposal on the creation of an organized Europe, indispensable to the maintenance of peaceful relations. The proposal, known as the “Schuman Declaration” is considered to be the beginning of the creation of what is now the European Union. The 9th of May has become a European symbol (European Day), which, along with the flag, the anthem, the motto and the single currency (the Euro), identifies the political entity of the European Union. European Day is the occasion for activities and festivities that bring Europe closer to its citizens and people.
1950年5月9日，罗贝尔·舒曼为了维护不可或缺的和平关系，提出建议一个有组织的欧洲。这个后来称为“舒曼宣言”的提议被认为是建议如今欧盟的 开始。 因此，除了旗帜、歌曲、座右铭和单一货币（欧元）代表了欧洲联盟的政治实体之外，5月9日同样成为了欧洲标志（欧洲日）。通过欧洲日举办的活动和庆祝，使 欧洲人民走得更近。
