The European Chamber is delighted to invite you to the first edition of Insight China in 2014 on China's Economic Outlook for 2014 on 16th January. Leading experts Andrew Polk (the Conference Board China Center for Economics and Business in Beijing) and Arthur R Kroeber (Dragonomics), together with this session's moderator Mats Harborn (Vice President of European Chamber) will analyse and discuss the expected crucial movements in the Chinese economy in 2014 at the Westin Chaoyang Hotel.
- Andrew Polk, resident economist at The Conference Board China Center for Economics and Business in Beijing
- Arthur R Kroeber, managing director of GaveKal Dragonomics, an independent global economic research firm, and editor of its journal China Economic Quarterly. He is a non-resident senior fellow of the Brookings-Tsinghua Center.
After growing at an average of around 10% for a number of years, China's GDP growth has been slowing down since 2012. The GDP growth in 2013 is likely to have been 7.6%. Many economists believe that the Chinese economy will continue to slow to approximately 7% in 2014 and that this downslide has come to an end due to recent economic data on retail sales, exports, industrial production and fixed asset investment.
