The Chengdu No.6 Water Plant B is the first international BOT (Build Operate Transfer) water treatment plant project in China, operated by the joint venture of Veolia Water and Marubeni Corporation with a total investment of US$107.6 million. It provides treated tap water for 3.2 million inhabitants of Chengdu. The Chengdu No.6 Water Plant B is one of the most advanced water plants in the world. During the visit, we could have chance to see:
- Compact Multiflo lamella settlers, a special technology which increases the efficiency of the process;
- High-velocity and filters in which the size of the media particles has been specially developed to provide optimum velocity and efficiency in the filtration process;
- Cost-efficient gravitational flow which is used for the water intake, treatment process and treated water transmission because of a natural elevation of 60m between the water intake and Chengdu. The absence of pumps brings significant savings in electricity costs.
