The European Chamber Tianjin Chapter in cooperation with Elgin Group, would like to invite you for a conference cocktail on the Global Debt and the world economy as we begin a new year of Dragon.
The presentation has three distinct parts:
An analysis of the debt issues, especially in the Western World. We look at Government, Corporate and Household Debt, and how this affects GDP growth. This is followed by questioning what impact on debt and growth the recent monetary stimuli by the world’s main central banks have had. Finally, we analyse whether the large emerging market economies can help the developed world return to trend growth. More details of the particularities of each of China, India and Brazil are given, with the positives and negatives of each economy highlighted, and how policies in these countries will affect their future.
We question whether forecasting is a useful tool, both at the macro-economic and financial-market level, and if forecasts can help a potential investor to make informed decisions. Examples of past forecasts from major financial organizations are analysed.
Where should one invest today? We analyse all asset classes such as fixed income, equities, commodities, real estate, currencies and alternatives. We then expose the strengths and weaknesses of each, and most importantly what warning signals an investor should be aware of. Finally, we recommend our favourite themes.
