The European Chamber is delighted to invite you to a breakfast seminar with Rupert Hoogewerf, Chairman and Chief Researcher from the Hurun Report to share the results of the latest Hurun China Rich List.
With 271 US$ billionaires and another record year of wealth accumulation, China is continuing to defy the gloom of financial instability that is casting a shadow on the fortunes of Western business leaders. The cut off to make the top 1000 in the report now stands at $310 million dollars, double that of two years ago.
China’s relentless construction boom coupled with a growing domestic retail market have been the key drivers for the growth in wealth. Another driver for the growth in wealth has been a large number of successful listings on the stock markets. 29 of the Hurun Top 50 count property as one of their main sources of wealth. The rich are well connected too. 30% of the Hurun Top 50 are delegates to the National Party Council or CPPCC.
During the presentation, Rupert Hoogewerf will shed light on the most significant figures making up the list, providing unique insights into China's biggest success stories and analysing the key trends that are fueling the rise of China's business moguls.
