At this meeting we will have the Working Group Chair and Vice Chair Elections. We will also kick off the Position Paper process 2010-2011.
As you may know, the Environment Working Chair and Vice Chairs play a crucial role in driving the Working Group which includes a leadership role in the drafting of the Position Paper, communicating key messages to the Chinese and European Government, and steering the Working Group meetings. The desired characteristics of a Chair and Vice Chair are a senior industry representative with relevant industry expertise and government contacts that has the time and willingness to support the group. Previous participation in the Working Group is also highly valued (a general job description is attached).
Currently, we have Mr. Frederick Cornu (Bureau Veritas) as our Chair.
Anyone who is possibly interested in running for the position of Chair or vice Chair is also encouraged and kindly requested to inform the Charlotte Jarosz at cjarosz@euccc.com.cn , by 17th, March, COB. We require a short bio and statement of your interest. All candidates will be asked to present themselves to the group. Each member company is entitled to one vote.
We have already one expression of interest for the Vice Chair Position: Mr. Wilson Bin Fan (AkzoNobel). Short Bio: Wilson is Regional Manager, HSE & Operational Services Asia-Pacific Akzo Nobel Technology & Engineering. He joined Akzo Nobel in January 2006 as HSE professional. Before that he served at GE Plastics as Project HSE Leader Greater China. He has 16 years of experiences as HSE professional under his belt. His areas of expertise are Incident Investigation, Compliance, Process Safety and new chemical notifications.
The annual Position Paper forms the basis of our lobbying activities, and the Chamber will start the drafting process of Position Paper 2010/11 in March. The first deadline will be 26th March, by then drafts for PP recommendations and individual recommendation nead to be ready. Due to the urgency, members are strongly encouraged to read last year's Position Paper and consult widely within their own company in advance so that they can then table such recommendations for discussion at this meeting. Please find attached the Position Paper 2009/10.
As always, we welcome your suggestions for agenda topics and possible speakers for this and future meetings.
Tentative Agenda:
1. WG Chair Election
2. Discussion of Position Paper; Key points and the process
