Chairman Liu Weixin, from the All China Federation Institute of Trade Unions, has kindly agreed to address European Chamber members at the Chamber's Shanghai office, on Thursday 8th January, 2009, on the subject of unions and unionisation for EU companies. Recently there have been numerous media reports on the subject of compulsory unionisation for foreign companies operating in China. This is your chance to hear directly from the Federation, details on whether your firm needs to unionise or not, as well as the steps you need to follow.
Owing to the expected high level of interest in this event, this will be a members only event. Tickets for this event, at the Huaihai Zhonglu European Chamber Shanghai office, will cost 150 RMB, to cover the costs of organising the event and providing a light breakfast. In order that Chairman Liu is able to provide the fullest possible answers to your questions, it is requested that members attending this event provide any questions they wish to ask, in writing, when registering for the event. (questions will be asked anonymously, no company names will be mentioned).
As government officials are extremely busy and occasionally have to change their schedules at short notice, please provide us with a mobile number we can contact you on should we have to reschedule the event at short notice.
