Ms. Bettina Schoen-Behanzin
Bettina Schoen-Behanzin entered Freudenberg Group in October 2012. As Regional Representative Asia she has been leading the Regional Corporate Center, based in Shanghai, China and is providing guidance and support for strategic planning and business development for the Freudenberg Business Groups in the region. From March 2008 to September 2012 she served as Managing Director of Wittur Elevator Components, China. She assumed the role of Managing Director of Rittal Electro-Mechanical Technology, China from 2000 to 2008, after having been the General Manager of Rittal in China as well as Sales and Marketing Manager of Rittal in Singapore. She had joined the Rittal Headquarters in Germany in 1992.
Bettina Schoen-Behanzin has acquired a Master degree in Sinology, Business Economics and Political Science at the Ruhr-University in Bochum, Germany. Furthermore, she did Post-Graduate Studies of Chinese and Economics at Fudan University, Shanghai, China.
Speaking Chinese fluently, Bettina Schoen-Behanzin has around 25 years of working experience in Asia, mostly in China, leading operational business as well acting in corporate functions. From April 2014 to April 2016 she served as Director of the Board of the German Chamber Shanghai, being reelected in April 2016 and April 2018 as President of the Board of the German Chamber Shanghai. In 2019, she was the first German woman to receive Shanghai Municipal Government’s Magnolia Gold Award.
Mr. Björn Conrad
Björn Conrad has almost two decades of China experience. He is a recognized expert on China’s industrial policy and regulatory context as well as its digital and technological transformation. Before starting Sinolytics, he was the Vice President of the Mercator Institute for China Studies (MERICS). Before, he worked as China Specialist at the World Bank in Washington D.C. and UN FAO in Rome, designing and managing projects in almost all provinces of the PRC. Earlier, he gained consulting experience with the Boston Consulting Group. He holds a degree in Sinology, Economics and Politics from Trier and Peking University as well as a Masters degree from Harvard University.
Mr. Tom Hancock
Tom Hancock is China consumer correspondent at the Financial Times, based in Shanghai, where he reports on corporate news, pharmaceutical and retail, commodities, and Chinese society and politics. Prior to joining the FT, Hancock spent four years as Beijing correspondent for Agence France-Presse. During his time with AFP, he covered issues from human rights activism to human hair exporters, striking factory workers and factory bosses fuelling demand for private islands. He has also worked at the Chinese financial media outlet, Caixin. Hancock graduated from the University of Cambridge with a degree in
philosophy. He studied Chinese at Renmin University in Beijing on a Confucius Institute scholarship.

Dr. Stephan Kothrade
Dr. Stephan Kothrade has been based in China since 2012. Currently, he serves as the President Functions Asia Pacific, President and Chairman Greater China, BASF. Prior to this, he was the President, BASF-YPC Company Ltd, and Managing Director of Nanjing Verbund Site in Nanjing.
Dr. Kothrade joined BASF in 1995 as a polymer researcher at BASF Aktiengesellschaft, Ludwigshafen. Since then he has served several executive positions in Europe and Asia. Dr. Stephan Kothrade was born in 1967 in Landshut, Germany. He has a doctorate in Organic Chemistry from the University of Munich.
Ms. Mirjam Meissner
Mirjam Meissner, Director at Sinolytics, is an expert on market regulation, industrial and technology policy and digital disruption in China and a leading specialist on China’s big data-enabled regulation of companies via the Social Credit System. She supports many companies in adjusting to the challenges of China’s regulatory ratings. In addition, Mirjam has a strong track record in consulting on the rapid technological transformation in China’s automotive, mobility, chemicals and health care sectors. Prior to Sinolytics she co-headed the technology and economics program at MERICS. She studied Sinology, Economics and Politics in Berlin as well as in Wuhan, China.
Mr. Carlo Diego D’Andrea
Founder and Managing Partner of D’Andrea & Partners Legal Counsel, and Founder of DP Group.
Graduated in Law at the University of Teramo (Italy), he then subsequently obtained a Masters’ degree in Corporate Advisor at LUISS University in Rome and a Diploma in Chinese Studies at Nanjing Normal University and is a member of the Italian Bar Association.
Mr. D’Andrea arrived in China in 2005 and is fluent in Italian (mother tongue), English, Mandarin Chinese and Spanish. He mainly deals with cross-border mergers and acquisitions, assistance in ODI/FDI and intellectual property rights.
He is also acting as National Vice President of the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China.
