Dr. Ulf Henning Richter is a professor, author, public speaker, based in Shanghai, China. He received his Doctorate in Economic Sciences from HEC Lausanne, Switzerland, for his thesis on corporate responsibility in a globalizing world, and an MBA from European Business School, Oestrich-Winkel in Germany. Previous appointments include Tongji University, University of Nottingham Ningbo China, Portland State University, and Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. Dr Richter was a Visiting Scholar with INSEAD and a Visiting Fellow at Harvard University.
Dr. Richter has worked with and consulted for multinational companies such as Daimler (Mercedes), Morgan Stanley, Nestle, Tata Steel, the Chinese high-speed manufacturer CRRC, Energy China. His areas of expertise include strategy and project development, strategy implementation and transaction services in the automotive and rail, infrastructure, mining, oil and gas, waste and waste water sectors in Europe, China, Africa and Latin America.
Dr. Richter is an award-winning entrepreneur with a global network, who has founded companies in China, Hong Kong and Côte d’Ivoire. In his research, he concentrates on the multifaceted links between corporate strategy, innovation, responsibility, sustainability, and governance in times of globalization, and sustainable investment in emerging and frontier economies. Dr. Richter has authored or co-authored more than 30 publications and has presented his work at numerous conferences throughout Europe, the United States, Asia and Africa. His work has been published in renowned peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of Business Ethics and the International Journal of Human Resource Management.
