Newly enshrined in the Communist Party of China’s constitution, there is no doubting the significance of President Xi Jinping’s signature Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). While the majority of outbound investments in 2017 have come under increased scrutiny, those in line with the BRI have continued to increase and have remained on the regulators ‘encouraged’ list.
As the BRI moves away from a grand vision towards an ambitious reality, foreign companies must act now to identify how they can best profit from this international project. The European Chamber is delighted to welcome David Wijeratne, partner, PwC Growth Markets Centre lead and author of PwC’s major new study Revamping the Ancient Silk Routes, to explain how companies can take advantage of this opportune time in the BRI project and the factors that must be considered if they are to position themselves for success.
