Please join us for a conversation regarding the regulatory environment in the Trump era – including the policy trajectory and enforcement of anti-bribery and U.S. sanctions —and the implications of those priorities for corporate compliance programs for companies in China. Our featured guests will be Patrick Stokes and Adam Smith. Patrick served as the Chief of US Department of Justice’s Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) Unit from 2014 to 2016 and, before that, was Co-Chief of the Securities and Financial Fraud Unit from 2010 to 2014. Adam served as the senior advisor to the Director of the U.S. Treasury’s sanctions agency and as Director for Multilateral Affairs at the White House from 2010 to 2015. Among other topics, Patrick and Adam will discuss:
- Regulatory developments driving corporate enforcement efforts;
- Trends in anti-corruption, securities and financial fraud, and economic sanctions application and enforcement – including with respect to Iran and North Korea sanctions;
- U.S. agencies’ investigatory and litigation tactics;
- U.S. regulators’ expectations with respect to self-disclosure, cooperation, and compliance enhancements;
- Practical recommendations for improving corporate compliance programs; and
- Perspectives on enforcement under the new administration.
