Half a year after Britons chose Brexit. On January 17th, Prime Minister Theresa May acknowledged that leaving the EU would involve trade-offs. She will pursue a “hard Brexit”, taking Britain out of the EU’s single market to regain control.
In this event, our panelists will cut through the noise to give their insights on the risks and opportunities that come with leaving the European Union. Negotiation strategy, single market access, international trade and the prospect for further EU fragmentation will all be discussed in detail.

Speakers
Mr. David Mardle
David is a founder of Taylor Wessing's market-leading Corporate Technology team and has been a partner advising on international corporate transactions, in particular trade sales and equity funding transactions in the technology sector for nearly 20 years. His clients include major technology companies, plus some of Europe's highest-profile growth companies and also major investors.
David is co-head of our international Corporate practice and a member of the firm's Technology, Media & Communications industry group. He was a founder of our Cambridge office and serves as secretary to the Cambridge Network board, which exists to link Cambridge academia and businesses to each other and to the global high technology community generally.
David read law at Oxford University and is a regular contributor to the BVCA's annual VC foundation programme.
Dr. Klaus Grossmann
Klaus Grossmann heads the firm's German M&A Department and co-heads the International Corporate practice. He specialises in national and international M&A transactions, as well as joint ventures and private equity.
Klaus studied law in Cologne between 1980 and 1984. Following his Second State Examination in 1988 and completion of his doctorate he worked as a lawyer in Washington DC/ USA until the end of 1990. His professional career in Germany began in 1990 at Wessing Berenberg-Gossler Zimmermann Lange, where he became a partner in 1997. He then moved to Clifford Chance, where he set up their Düsseldorf office. At the end of 2009 he returned to what is now Taylor Wessing. Since 2013, Klaus has been head of the German M&A Department.
Klaus has made a number of contributions to the legal press. He is also co-author of a book on mezzanine financing.
Mr. Richard Bell
Richard acts for clients in all areas of dispute resolution and has particular experience in joint venture disputes, property development and infrastructure disputes and disputes arising under franchise, distribution and importer agreements.
Richard frequently acts for clients in cross border arbitration proceedings including LCIA, ICC, DIFC/LCIA, DIAC and ad hoc arbitrations. He also assists clients with court proceedings in overseas jurisdictions and has particular experience in dealing with disputes in difficult jurisdictions and emerging markets.
Prior to moving to Shanghai in 2015, Richard practiced in the Middle East for 8 years; firstly with Clyde & Co in Dubai and secondly with Clyde & Co's office in Abu Dhabi where he headed up the dispute resolution team.
