The European Chamber Tianjin Chapter has the pleasure to invite you to take a part in our Annual Board Elections on Wednesday 20 April. This special occasion is an incredibly rewarding opportunity for you to share your ideas about the Chamber’s future. Anyone who is interested in the leadership position in the Chamber, please submit the applications (nomination form and motivation letter) to Kitty Wang at kwang@europeanchamber.com.cn.
We will also invite Joerg Wuttke, President of European Chamber in China to deliver a presentation on Chamber recent study in Overcapacity. The report provides a detailed examination of the causes and consequences of serious overcapacity in eight important industries: crude steel, electrolytic aluminium, cement, refining, chemicals, flat glass, shipbuilding, and paper and paperboard. Based on our analysis, the European Chamber evaluates why, to date, the Chinese Government’s efforts to address overcapacity have failed and provides 30 recommendations—both direct and indirect measures—that should be taken to address this serious problem.

- List of Candidates Will be Circulated to European Chamber Members before Friday 15 April.
Who can vote and run for elections?
If you meet all the following 4 criteria, you can vote and run for election:
1) To be a Designated Representative (the main contact between the European Chamber and your company);
2) A European member with operations in China;
3) A Member of one of our working groups or forums;
4) With paid dues for the year 2016(please make sure that the Chamber has received and confirmed your membership payment by 11 April 2016 18:00).
Who can attend the Board Election Meeting?
All members (including those who do not meet the requirements for voting and standing for election), with paid dues, have the right to participate. However only members who meet the above mentioned 4 criteria can vote or run for election.
How can I vote?
1) In person by secret ballot at the elections venue. Please note that even if you have voting rights confirmed by the Secretariat of the Chamber, you must have registered for the Board Elections in order to exercise this vote by 11 April 2015 18:00.
2) Assign a proxy to vote on your behalf by 18 April 2016 18:00. Please fill in the Proxy Form and send a scanned copy to Kitty Wang at kwang@europeanchamber.com.cn or in person at the Chamber office.
For Tianjin Board Election the proxy must be a colleague from your own legal entity and must be present. This requirement has only one exception for the Individual member, who may give his/her proxy to another individual member/corporate member in Tianjin Chapter.
Proxies received after the deadline and in a format different from those listed above won’t be accepted

Message to European Chamber Members: Articles of Association
The Executive Committee of the European Chamber is kindly requesting members to review a proposal to amend the Chamber’s Articles of Association. The changes proposed by the Executive Committee are important and will allow the Chamber to function better by ensuring wider representation, strengthening member rights, allowing for greater continuity within the board and facilitating future elections by introducing new voting methods.
