Job description
The European Chamber’s Advisory Council Coordinator play a key role in coordinating / managing the activities and services for the Chamber’s elite Advisory Council Membership of 30 corporate members.
The European Chamber’s Advisory Council is made up of a select group of members represented by the CEOs and presidents of some of the biggest EU companies with investments in China.
The Advisory Council influences the priorities and line of action to be taken by the Chamber by providing advice on its strategic direction. They directly contribute to strengthening the voice of European business in China by passing on messages to Chinese and European decision-makers in the name of specific industries.
Responsibilities (reporting line: Senior Membership Manager in Beijing and Shanghai respectively):
Locations: Beijing and Shanghai. We are hiring one person in each city.
- develop an annual high-level, high quality event programme for the Advisory Council in coordination with Chapter GMs, Events and Membership Managers. This includes the identification of hot topics, speakers, drafting of invites, registration of participants, and facilitation of the event.
- Develop strong relations with Advisory Council members and a strong understanding of their business issues.
- Cooperate with all 7 Chapters in the organisation to ensure that Advisory Council services are being delivered nationally.
- Maintain a detailed Advisory Council database of key contacts, history of their corporate involvement and contracts.
- Co-develop policies and operating procedures (SOP’s) for conducting Advisory Council events. Update all marketing materials related to the Advisory Council brochure when necessary.
- Recruit in coordination with other staff members companies eligible to join the Chamber’s Advisory Council.
- Ensure the timely renewal and payment of Advisory Council members.
- Support and/or provide the finance department with the annual budget, split, and monthly forecast for Advisory Council.
- Report regular progress on Advisory Council membership status versus target and analyse, explain and assist as needed to address the gaps.
- Co-lead, leverage, and inspire the Chamber’s internal Advisory Council staff team to understand the importance of Advisory Council by ensuring that they are well informed of its developments and being involved/called upon for the delivery of its services. This team includes all chapter GMs, GA colleagues, event colleagues and others.
- Support the preparation of membership information for financial audit.
- Work closely and collaborate successfully across Chapters and Departments (GA, Events, Membership, and Finance Departments.
- Coordinate the participation of Advisory Council members in the Brussels Tour where the European Chamber’s Position Paper is presented to European leaders and participation in other events as required.

- Strong knowledge and interest in the business environment
- Self-starter, confident, diplomatic, modest, service oriented, people person
- Willing to travel occasionally
- Excellent project management and time management skills
- Outstanding verbal and written communicator
- Strong planning and analytical organisation skills
- Responsible, professional, open-minded, and strategic thinker
- Outstanding English speaking skills (native English desired but not essential), other European languages and Mandarin are a plus
- Professional appearance and demeanor
- University degree in related field (economics, political science, communications, law …)
