The Southwest Board Election where the Chair of the Southwest Board (1), Vice Chair (2) and Southwest Board Members (4) are elected will take place on April 13th (Thursday) 2023 in Chengdu.
The Board holds a pivotal role by guiding the operations of the Chamber and ensuring the European Chamber's actions are in line with our members' needs for advocacy, business intelligence and development.
Mr. Joerg Wuttke, President of the Chamber together with Mr. Adam Dunnett, Secretary General of the Chamber will attend the event, and they would like to invite you to the Annual General Meeting to participate and witness the board election 2023. There will be a social cocktail party after formal meeting as well.

Who can vote?
You can vote in the election if you:
1.a Are a designated representative (the main contact between the European Chamber and your company), or
1.b Are an individual member
and
2. Paid the membership fee for 2023 and have no outstanding payment (please make sure that the Chamber has received and confirmed your membership payment and any other outstanding payment by no later than 6pm March 30th 2023.)
Who can run for election?
The elected Chair, Vice Chair and Board Members shall serve for a two-year term (2023-2025) in accordance with No. 3.7 of the By-laws of the European Chamber, which states that the Chair and any member of the liaison office board shall serve for two years and shall be eligible for re-election once to his/her respective position for a maximum of two (2) terms only.
How can I vote?
You are welcome to cast your vote either in person or by designating a proxy to vote on your behalf.
1) You can vote in person by secret ballot at the election venue on April 13th 2023. Please note that even if you have voting rights confirmed by the Secretariat of the Chamber, you must have registered for the Board Election by 2:00pm, April 10th, 2023 in order to exercise this vote.
2) Assign a proxy to vote on your behalf by 6pm April 7th 2023. Please fill in the proxy form and send a scanned copy to Jane Zhang at xzzhang@europeanchamber.com.cn or in person at the Chamber office in Chengdu (1604A, Building 1, Central Plaza, No.8, Shuncheng Avenue, Jinjiang District).
The proxy must be a colleague from your own legal entity and must be present to vote. This requirement has only one exception for the Individual member, who may give his/her proxy to another individual member/corporate member in Southwest China.
Proxies received after the deadline and in a format different from those listed above will not be accepted.
3) If you can’t vote in person or assign a proxy to vote on your behalf, you can do e-voting from April 7th to April 11th, prior to onsite Local Board Election.

Effective from 1st February 2023 through to 1st July 2023, the National and Local Election Commissions, appointed by the Executive Committee (ExCo) of the European Chamber in line with Article 1.1.2 of the By-laws, will formally assume their duties to support this year’s elections.
The Election Commissions at both national and liaison office levels have been created with the mission to: 1) promote a strong and diversified European Union business identity at the Board level (ExCo and liaison office boards); 2) improve consistency, transparency and efficiency of the Chamber’s ExCo and liaison office boards election processes; and 3) reinforce the competencies of Boards (ExCo and liaison office boards) aligned with the Chamber’s original core mission.

Mr. Jörg Wuttke

Mr. Jörg Wuttke
Jörg Wuttke is Chief Representative of BASF China, based in Beijing. Wuttke is President of the EU Chamber of Commerce in China – an office he already held from 2007 to 2010 and from 2014 to 2017. Wuttke is a member of the Advisory Board of the Mercator Institute for China Studies (MERICS) in Berlin. He contributes regularly to the Swiss financial blog https://themarket.ch/. Wuttke has lived in Beijing for more than three decades.
Mr. Adam Dunnett

Mr. Adam Dunnett
Adam’s career has focused on trade & investment advocacy, promotion and association management. As the European Chamber’s secretary general, he is responsible for the overall implementation of its objectives, visibility, membership and advocacy activities across its 7 chapters and 9 offices in China (Beijing, Chengdu, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Nanjing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Shenyang and Tianjin).
Adam joined the Chamber in 2006. He served first as the senior business manager, later as Beijing general manager, and since 2013 as the secretary general.
Previously, he worked a commercial officer at the Canadian Embassy in Beijing, 2000-2004 and from 2011-2012 he worked at APCO, a consulting firm, as deputy managing director. Since 2013 he is a board member and a rotating chair of the EU SME Centre. From 2014-2017 and again from 2023 he serves vice chair of the European Business Organisation Worldwide Network, an NGO that represents European advocacy organisations based in over 50 countries.
Adam holds dual British and Canadian citizenship. He holds an M.A.in International Development from the International University of Japan, and B.A in foreign languages from the University of Victoria.
Mr. Massimo Bagnasco

Mr. Massimo Bagnasco
Mr. Bagnasco has been actively involved in the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China (EUCCC) since his arrival in China. Since 2008, he has alternatively covered positions of Chairman and Vice Chairman of Construction Working Group. He has been also focusing on EU SME sector. In 2013, he was elected as Italian State Representative in the Supervisory Board of the EUCCC. Since 2014 till now, he became Member of the Chamber Executive Committee. Since 2017, he serves as Vice President. In 2021 he became also Chairman of Southwest China.
He has been involved in the preparation, implementation and development activities of EU-China Sustainable Urbanization Partnership. Mr. Bagnasco was also one of the four European experts, members of the Taskforce in charge EU-China Innovation Cooperation Dialogue framework agreement promoted by DG-RTD and MoST.
In 2016 he received the Knighthood of the Order of the Star by appointment of President of the Italian Republic to have acquired special credits and in the promotion of friendship cooperation of Italy with China.
Massimo Bagnasco is the CEO of China Europe Carbon Neutral Technology, a consulting firm which provide holistic solutions to the decarbonization target by the contribution of international academic experts and leading technology companies.
In 2004, he joined Progetto CMR, the only Italian integrated design firm ranked in the top 100 worldwide. The same year he moved to China setting up the local company (Progetto CMR Beijing) with offices in Beijing and Tianjin. He operated as Managing Director and was involved in several projects in China, including master plans, hotels, mixed use complexes, retail and sports venues. In 2009 he became a shareholder partner.
From 2017 to 2022, he is appointed as the visiting professor of School of Architecture and Design at Beijing Jiaotong University.
In 2019, he was appointed as member of advisory committee of International Centre for Creativity and Sustainable Development under the auspices of UNESCO (Category 2).
In 2021 he was appointed by the Politecnico of Turin University as China Centre advisory board member.
In 2023 he was nominated “Professional Affiliate" at IdM Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, Pisa
Mr. Bagnasco got a Master degree in Urban Planning and a bachelor degree in Architecture at University of Genoa.
