Dear Working Group and Forum members,
The Human Resources Working Group is pleased to invite you to the meeting “Under Pressure: Six Legal-Proof Measures to Reduce Labor Costs”, which is taking place on July 14th, 10:30am-11:30am, both online (via Zoom) and on-site at the European Chamber’s Shanghai office.
COVID-19 has had companies virtually everywhere reconfigure their operating models to build resilience and ensure business continuity in the new reality. Confronted with such economic pressure, companies are looking for possibilities to reduce labor costs.
At this meeting, Jeanette Yu, Partner and Head of CMS China, Employment & Pension Practice Group, will introduce different strategies for managing labor costs under PRC labor law and will elaborate on how these apply to current labor policies. The discussion will outline specific options companies can consider to contain HR costs, such as salary reduction, arranging leave, adjusting working time, controlling headcount, downsizing the workforce and fine-tuning production operations.
