The European Chamber is disappointed about the postponement of the 11th EU-China Summit

Beijing, 27th November 2008. The European Union Chamber of Commerce in China is disappointed that in times of global financial turmoil and a significant economic slowdown the Chinese leadership decided to postpone the EU-China Summit scheduled to take place in Lyon on 1st December. This is a lost opportunity. The European Chamber hopes that this will not lead to the rise of economic nationalism in terms of antagonistic and protectionist actions. Consultations in the spirit of respect and openness are needed now more than ever, and should be taken up at the highest level by both European and Chinese governments.
