Ten countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) plus Australia, China, Japan, New Zealand and South Korea have just signed one of the world’s largest regional free trade agreements: Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP). Notably, this agreement is the second in Asia to happen without participation from the United States, signaling a leadership tilt towards Asia and a great step towards multilateral trade integration in the region.
