The Human Resources Working Group is pleased to invite you to the online meeting “China Individual Income Tax (IIT) Implications for Foreign Employees Under the Novel Coronavirus Outbreak”, which is taking place on Tuesday, 10th March, 2020, 3:30pm to 5:30pm (GMT+8), on Zoom.
At this meeting, Gertie Chen, Partner, and Ricky Jiang, Senior Manager, both from PwC Global Mobility Services, will provide the latest updates on China IIT in relation to the Coronavirus outbreak. Furthermore, the speakers will offer suggestions for the upcoming first-year China IIT annual reconciliation filing and will address, from the vantage point of both employers and employees, the potential tax implications for foreigners who are working and living in China.
The IIT presentation by our PwC Global Mobility Service guest speakers will be followed by:
- 2020-2021 Chair elections: only Human Resources Working Group members who registered successfully for this meeting will have the right to vote online, with one vote per company. Online voting instructions will be sent via email to individual attendees prior to the meeting.
- 2020 Position Paper discussion and assignment of Lead Pens: we will review the Key Recommendations of the Human Resources Working Group Position Paper that we will draft during this coming half year (click here to review the 2019 Position Paper).

Human Resources Working Group members interested in running for this year’s Chair elections, should take notice of the following:
Roles and Responsibilities
The Chairperson and Vice Chairs play a crucial role in driving the Working Group, including a leading role in the drafting of the annual Position Paper, in communicating key messages to Chinese and European government authorities, and in steering activities of the Working Group. The ideal Chair and Vice Chair is a senior industry representative with relevant expertise and government contacts who has the time and willingness to support the Working Group for 12 months. Previous participation in the Working Group is essential. Before applying for the position of Chair or Vice Chair, we recommend that you obtain approval from your company.
The maximum duration of the Chairperson and Vice Chairperson position is three consecutive years. Only candidates who are physically based in China are eligible to run for Chair or Vice Chair positions.
The Human Resources Working Group is going to elect one Chair and three Vice Chairs in the Shanghai and South China Chapters, respectively.
The Chairs and Vice Chairs should represent different sectors and issues. Therefore, we encourage employees across industries, as well as candidates with a Government Affairs background to apply.
