The event is aimed at discussing how mergers and acquisitions practice in China has progressively gained in complexity and is becoming an integral part (if not the primary tool) of the development and implementation of active portfolio management strategies.
More often that not, MNCs in China have looked at M&A exclusively as a tool for expansion, and this through a very limited set of standard structures. As the economic growth of China continues its convergence towards development market standards and the shift towards a consumer-driven model becomes a reality, MNCs with an important presence in China have found the need to continuously re-evaluate their business portfolios and China presence, developing reposition strategies to remain relevant and profitable. M&A departments are progressively integrated into Strategy departments, at the same time expanding the scope and becoming a pro-active tool for portfolio management. ‘
The European Chamber cordially invites Ms.Daisy Shen, Deal Advisory Partner, Mr. Wei Lin, Strategy Partner and Ms. Lisa Li, Deal Advisory Partner from KPMG China and Ms. Paula Yu, Senior Partner from SF Lawyers (上海睿威律师事务所) to discuss the changing role of M&A for MNCs in China. The speakers will also present on how MNCs can re-evaluate their China strategy and business portfolios to stay relevant and profitable in an ever-changing Chinese market. The speakers will explore common practices applied in other mature markets and explain how MNCs in China can adopt standard local practice.
