January Automotive Roundtable: Motorsport in China – Latest Developments & Trends
With the development of the automotive industry, motorsport events are getting more and more popular in China. However Motorsport in China is still in its early stages and there is still a long way to go to develop these events as professional sport events like in Western countries.
Driver training, racing team management, the development of circuits, localization of top level drivers and worldwide competitions as well as the popularization of motorsport in China are the concerns of this industry.
After the successful Automotive Roundtable in summer 2014, the upcoming 2016 January Automotive Roundtable will provide the platform to further follow up the discussions with leading motorsport experts on the latest developments and trends of motorsport in China.

Mr. Jackie Chen, Chief Executive Officer, Lotus Cars China
Jackie Chen has various experiences in China Automotive business, starting from 2005, joined Premier Automotive Group under Ford China, took the responsibility in product and marketing, covering Volvo Jaguar & Landrover. At year of 2008, he started the accessory business in Volvo and developed the most favorable products for China market.2011 the new role of sales function in Maserati & Ferrari great China, helped Maserati fulfilled the growth from 600 units to 10,000 units within 2 years. 2015 March, he became the Lotus Cars China CEO to continue the sales and marketing sports car business in China.

Mr. Jim James, CEO of Morgan Cars China
Jim has introduced Morgan, the classic hand built British sports cars, to Morgan, and is part of the team which launched the first British Motor Sport Festival to China. He was interim CEO of Lotus Cars in 2014/15. He is also the Chairman of the EASTWEST Public Relations Group, with offices in Singapore, China and India, Chairman of EGGPLANT Digital, and is on the Executive Committee of the China Britain Business Council. Jim is British, the father of 2 daughters and holds a post graduate degree in marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
7:40 pm: Panel discussion: Motorsport in China – Latest Developments & Trends
Moderator: Mr. Felix Common, CEO of IngenAix GmbH
Felix Common is an internationally well recognized engineer of automotive facilities, such as proving grounds, brand experience centers and handling tracks. Together with his executive team of the IngenAix GmbH, which was established in 2004, Felix Common specialized in the design, planning and construction of test circuits, handling tracks and experience centers. To date Felix Common has been responsible for the layout and establishment of far over 20 different tracks and circuits worldwide, including the excellent BMW Experience Center (South Korea), BRIDGESTONE Proving Ground (Italy), the famous AUDI Experience Center (Germany), DAIMLER Proving Ground, ADAC Driver Training Center (Germany), GOODYEAR test track (Luxembourg) and the PORSCHE Kyalami Circuit (South Africa).

Mr. Steven Tsui was involved in Motorsport as early as 1970 in Hong Kong when there was hardly any racing in Asia but with the limitation of venue for Motorsport in Hong Kong in the 70/80’s and his busy business activities, Mr Tsui did not pick up Motorsport again till in the nineties. With the Start of Zhuhai Circuit in 1997, Mr Tsui started his Motorcycle racing sport again in 1999, and set up BG-Preformance in 2000 in order to support his own Racing activities, then BG turn Pro racing in 2003 with the support from many oversea motorsport companies and wining all the Super bike Championships in China from 2003-2006 and also being the 1st China Motogp team competing in Motogp 250 class in 2003, 2005, 2006. Due to the extensive involvement in Greater China’s Motorsport, Steven and the BG team travels all year round operating Promotion, Training and Racing events all over China and Asia and has very close cooperation with all the Motorsport Federation in the Greater China region. Today, BG represents many of the world’s biggest 2/4 wheels high performance product brands in the region and has supported many new and upcoming racing teams and individuals.

Since more than 40 years involved in the international professional Motorsport.
30 years producing roll over bars and Motorsport car bodies for nearly all car manufacturers worldwide. 20 years the president of the German Sport driver association called DSK. This is the biggest European association for sport drivers in Europe. Now I am the president of honor of this association.
Since 2003 is existing the Matter Motorsport Consulting Company in Shanghai China.
I found and educated the Chinese race drivers Han Han, Tengi Jiang and Chen XU.
Now busy with safe driving and driving events in all China for many car producers and the automotive industry.
