The 2019 China (Guangdong)–Europe Investment and Innovation Cooperation Conference (CEIICC) was held in Dongguan on 6th December. The conference was co-hosted by the People’s Government of Guangdong Province and the European Chamber, with the aim of improving cooperation between China and Europe through infrastructure, environmental protection and intelligent manufacturing projects. Zhang Hu, Vice Governor of Guangdong Provincial Government, H.E. Nicolas Chapuis, European Union Ambassador to China, President Joerg Wuttke attended the conference.

Mr. George Lau, Vice President of European Chamber was interviewed by Guangdong Radio and Television, Regarding the cooperation between Guangdong and Europe, emphasized that “our members speak highly of Guangdong’s international business environment, because the government highlights efficiency, transparency and a solution-oriented mentality.” Also, He said that EU companies still attach great importance to investing in China, especially for Guangdong, and are making adjustments in investment direction according to the business environment. “EU companies are currently shifting the focus of many investments to increasing automation, smart manufacturing, robotics, assembly lines, etc.”

Mr. Aaron Finley, Chair of Finance and Taxation Working Group of European Chamber South China Chapter also addressed “We will definitely continuing support innovation, do a lot cooperation with financial capital, start-ups, our innovation center has already opened in Shenzhen for further promote collaborations between large multi-national companies and startups , which will have more impact on the ability to support innovation.

As of October 2019, Guangdong has accumulated 4,650 European direct investment projects, with used foreign capital of US $ 18.4 billion.
